Served in the United States Marine corps from 2005 to 2013. He earned his eligibility in the VFW for serving on multiple deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and as part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. After separating from the Marines, he went on to study History at California State University San Marcos and Palomar College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in History in 2017. He was an active member of the Student Veterans of America chapters at both schools. He joined the VFW in 2017 at John R Simpson Post  1513 in Escondido and has served 2 terms there as Commander. As the commander, he has earned all American and all state award in both years. He is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars California Motorcycle Club. He lives in Escondido with his wife and daughter.
