Greetings Team District 1!

The down time is over!  The weather is getting nice finally and the calendar is getting full!  We have many District events coming up and I am very excited to spend time with you all!  First, Diana, our District Auxiliary President and I are hosting our joint Homecoming celebration together on April 20th and we would love nothing more than to have you all there to celebrate!  It has been a whirlwind of a year and I cannot believe we are closing it out soon.  Please get your RSVP's in so we can have a good idea of how many people to plan for.  And don't forget those dancing shoes!  Next up is our Loyalty Day Padres Game on April 28th!  Wear your Post/VFW gear and put some applications in your pockets!

Next, I want to thank you all for your community service efforts.  Our Posts are far more than our Canteens.  More and more I am seeing our Posts hosting recruiting events, food drives, wellness symposiums and feeding flood victims.  THIS is what the VFW is about.  THIS is supporting veterans and their families.  THIS is what being an advocate is all about.  Keep up the GOOD WORK!  The Canteen is fun, and has its purpose, but it isn't our only purpose!  Being visible in our communities is the best way to attract new members.  Networking is key! The sunshine brings people out so I encourage all of our Posts to look for the networking opportunities in your communities, Farmers markets, craft fairs, sponsorship of youth sports and scouts.  If you are networking regularly you will be on your way to making your recruiting goals!  Meeting those goals makes the pool of volunteers and new ideas grow!  I am a firm believer that you get back what you put in, so get in your community and they will come back to you!

Lastly, it is time for elections.  Thank you to those that have held leadership positions in our Posts.  I appreciate the time you have devoted to our VFW.  If you are moving up, keep charging, there is so much more to learn.  If you are stepping back, we appreciate what you have given and share what you know to set your relief up for success! "Success is best when it is shared." -Howard Schultz

May 2024 Dispatch

Hello Auxiliary Brothers, and Sisters,

Our District wide Membership total is 102.63% and congratulations to Auxiliary 1513 for reaching 1st place standings with 139.13% ! Auxiliaries should have elected their 2024-2025 Officers and submitted your Department and National Delegate lists. When mailing your Department Delegates list, remember to include your Auxiliary’s Delegate fees. Auxiliary Secretaries should enter the new Officers and National Delegates into MALTA. If your Auxiliary will be attending Mass Installation on May 11, please bring your Installation Report for the Installing Officer to sign and a check for $15 made payable to "VFW District 1”, if you have not already paid in advance.

May 4th is the VFW Day of Service where Posts should perform some service in their local community. This serves a dual purpose of accomplishing a positive image of the VFW and letting the community know that there is an active VFW Post/ Auxiliary nearby. I encourage Auxiliaries to join forces with the Comrades.

May 5 will be our last District Meeting (Lakeside Post) for the year- a Memorial Service will begin at 8am, District meeting at 9am, elections and installation of our new District Officers with a reception to follow. Please plan to attend this important meeting.

Thank you to those who came to our Joint District Homecoming. It was great seeing everyone decked out and having a fun time!

I look forward to attending the Department Convention in June and cannot wait to see who the recipients of the Program awards will be. Good luck to all!

Congratulations to all incoming 2022-2023 Auxiliary Officers! May you have continued success and strive to help keep us the Mighty First!
