Brothers, Sisters, & Comrades,
It's that time of year, a time when we are reminded that showing love can be expressed in many ways, whether through words, actions, or gestures. It can be as simple as a warm hug, a kind word, or spending quality time with someone. It's important to be attentive to the needs and feelings of those we care about, offering support and understanding. Small acts of kindness and appreciation can go a long way in strengthening relationships and making others feel valued and loved. Helping veterans is a profound way to show love and support. Here are some specific ways to express that love:
1. **Volunteering Time**: Spend time at veteran organizations or local VA hospitals. You can offer to assist with events, provide companionship, or help with administrative tasks.
2. **Donating**: Contribute to charities that support veterans, whether through financial donations or in-kind gifts like clothing, books, or toiletries.
3. **Advocacy**: Raise awareness about veteran issues by participating in campaigns, writing to local representatives, or sharing stories that highlight their challenges.
4. **Mentorship**: Offer guidance or support to veterans who may be struggling with reintegration into civilian life. This could involve career counseling or simply being a listening ear.
5. **Hosting Community Events**: Organize or participate in events that honor veterans, such as parades, memorials, or fundraising runs, to build community support and recognition.
6. **Crafting Care Packages**: Put together packages that can be sent to active duty service members or veterans in need, filled with essential items and personal notes of appreciation.
Each of these actions can make a significant difference in the lives of veterans while showing them that they are loved and valued. While that is our main goal, another way we as Auxiliary members can help is by reporting the good works that we do.
The District will be having a School of Instruction February 22nd at 10am via zoom on the topic of reporting and if your Auxiliary's President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Trustee haven't gone to a SOI this will be your last opportunity to meet this requirement for the Circle of Excellence. Thank you for all you do in showing "Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes"
